ADHITI Centre was conceived out of a societal need and concern for children with disabilities like Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Specific Learning Disorders which compromise their scholastic and social skills. Though the educational policies try to integrate these children into normal schools, they are often unable to cope up with the curriculum and peer activities.
ADHITI aims at offering remedial teaching in a compassionate, structured and stepwise manner to augment their skills and improve learning outcomes. Begun in 2013 as an informal centre under the umbrella of BHAVINI (Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Limited), it was formalised in 2022, under the auspices of ‘ADHITI TRUST’. The trusteeship resides in the able hands of senior scientists and officials from the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), consultants from National Institute for Empowerment of People with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD), a child psychiatrist from a reputed children’s hospital and socially conscious senior officials from the public industry sector.
ADHITI believes in the potential of every child and aims to bridge the gap between potential and performance. Situated amongst the serene, green landscape of BHAVINI Township, ADHITI has dedicated special educators, occupational therapist and speech therapist who offer early intervention with innovative learning techniques to help the children overcome their challenges. As a goodwill measure, ADHITI also offers free remedial therapy to the children from neighbourhood villages.
